I will miss you...

This was my post graduation project. I donated it to the work holiday party and someone got to take it home. It's done with Tunisian crochet and still the largest thing I've made using that type of crochet.

Panic Work

I kinda had a panic attack I wouldn't get everything done in time. Part of the problem is I am a bit of a perfectionist and making little books for nieces and nephews has to be right. This is what I have for the work raffle and holiday party. I just had to buy picture frames and embroidery hoops.

Donations

Work is having a Christmas party raffle and I'm donating a bunch of weird stuff I have. There's a lot more than I realized so I wonder if in between a new 4gig thumb drive they'll announce my 2 headed cow. That would be awesome. I'm mounting the merit badges with a short description of what they are for, I have enough for 3 8x10 frames. That's not even the entire amount I made and planned to make. Nobody gets the boobies one, that one stays with me.

Ideas for the Christmas Story

Here's what I've got so far:

Famous last words
Cannibal/carnivorous flowers in a death match
A Rube Goldberg butt slapper
Monster puppies
Eating so much candy and then blasting yourself out of a cannon over a playground so you explode.
Ways I will die.

I think I have a few elements I want in the story, depending on how it comes out but I haven't figured out a setting.

Mounting the Kill

I did this in 2005 and sold it on ebay for $10, I think it was listed under paranormal. I was going through a phase where I wanted to see how much people would pay for haunted crap.

Pub Signs

I came across some pub signs you could personalize with your name in a catalog. How hard could it be to do the same thing myself? This is the last batch, I think I've made 15 by now. These girls were all off to college so I thought they'd like something to remember the dance school by.

Weekend Work

I am really behind on birthday stuff for family. I've decided that if you live nearby and I go to the birthday party you will be getting your present on time. Everyone else plan for delays. This is the beginning of one coming up. I can't show much more just in case this person reads my inane ramblings but I was productive!

About 2 years ago I made this kitchen cart. I'd seen some cool and overpriced carts online and decided I wanted to make it myself. The kitchen is small, no dining room and I don't have enough space to work. I needed something table-height but then high enough to use for extra counter space.  It's a work in progress though, I want to eventually paint the whole thing and there are wire shelves I want to be wooden. I keep a lot of tools in it and they poke through the wire too much. The fold out table is from Ikea and both surfaces are covered with squares of linoleum. As you can see with my pasta maker and mixer I'm about to make pasta. I added casters to the bottom so I can move it around to clean and for convenience when in use.

Titania's Capelet

I got into an old hard drive and found some (a lot) pictures of old projects I'd forgotten about. Really, a pants-load. I will be occasionally posting them here with whatever I can remember about the experience.

March 2010: I'd been ok at making little animals and beasties even having a bag of them to give out to nieces, nephews and random repair guys who visited my home. The new goal was to make something for myself to wear. I found this pattern on Interweave's website and thought it was a good start. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/titanias-capelet

What I've been working on.

This is for a music box I'm hacking. the wire is a stronger version of memory wire. Memory wire bends when heated but this one would have to be heated by a blowtorch so it won't bend. I got it from the local Make group and soldered it to some gears I have and hope to make work. The wire is perfect, it bends down and then comes back up straight.

I got pissed off because I couldn't find my flux and angrily drove to go buy more. I can't be the only person that's ever done that.

These are some domino magnets I'm working on. Protip: use white glue to stick the magnets on rather than jumping right into the resin. They stay put while pouring the resin instead of flying off towards each other.

A Pirate Map

This is gift #3 but I've made so many more than that, to practice and refine and rejects I can't bear to give out.

Here's the original: Kai's Map

And at last night's birthday party, I added a dry erase marker so he can draw his own directions to pirate treasure. He drew a house for the sharks and Wolverine.

Better Merit Badges

Merit Badges

My nieces' butt. I visited for Christmas and the 4 year old made me look at her butt as often as possible. This is what I wrote to someone about the visit:

I have never seen so much naked butt in my entire life! Never! (the niece) changing clothes, coming out of the potty, getting in and out of the bath, 'don't look Aunt Beth (moves closer to me), ok you can look but don't look at my pee pee (full frontal) don't look at my pee pee again (squats and spreads the cheeks)...'. It was many times a day so I'd play the 'Don't see Chloe's pee pee today' game and would lose every day.

Yub Nub!

It was Liam's 2nd birthday. I crocheted from a pattern I came across on Craftster: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=130572.0

Ewok

I made him bigger and gave him a baby.

I didn't have a gift bag and didn't want to dig in the closet for wrapping paper and I had this bag all ready to go, tissue paper and everything....

I was Robbed! Well...

Not really no I don't think so. I did a photoshop contest in 2008 called 'One Letter Off' and this was my submission (of many):

How much work do you think I did on this one? Less than 5 minutes probably. I didn't make the top 40 submissions. But then today on the Daily Show we got the mandatory explanation for Jon Stewart's absence. div>

No I don't honestly think a writer found my shop and used it 5 years later but I do think we thought of the same joke that actually made it on air!!!!

Neverending Story Baby Art Quilt

I started this while family was visiting because I needed a project to focus on that would keep me occupied in between activities. There were a lot.

Neverending Story Art Quilt

It's all acrylic and then sewn. I actually painted too many squares and the whole thing would have been much larger so some didn't make the cut. If there's another baby it might get the sequel.

Neverending Story Art Quilt

I have no idea how many times I watched the movie, paused, drew or painted or took notes. All the way through close to 10. On without sound maybe another 10.

Neverending Story Art Quilt

When I sketched out the old couple I remember that the little old man got all the way up the cliff and was facing his wife lecturing the entire time.

Neverending Story Art Quilt

This gave me nightmares as a kid.

Neverending Story Art Quilt

This one was larger but had to be trimmed to fit with the rest of the quilt.

Neverending Story Art Quilt

I loved working on Falkor though it took a long time to get right. After he was dry I added Angelina Fiber and free motion quilted it to his back.

An angled view of the quilting.

Neverending Story Art Quilt

I tried to match up with the rocky cliff in the sewing.

Neverending Story Art Quilt

I don't sew over the whole thing but instead pick out a few parts that need the texture.

The back is a few different colors wetted and then sprayed and salted. It has a nice effect on the paint.

Evil

This was one of the felt baby name books I made as a Christmas gift for a niece. She finally made it here and I can release the picture into the wild.

Auryn and Falkor

The snakes have a very hard to see scaley texture. I outlined it all in black and then went over with some watery gold and silver and then more black for the shading. The scales show through as a texture more than color.

Taking pictures is a good way to get a view from a distance and I'd never have noticed the head of the silver snake as off without it.

Because the creatures were done practically and without cgi they actually hold up after all this time. I've seen some 80s movies where the special effects look like someone overlaid a cartoon laser or whatever they were trying to do.
