Finished!

But I have to wait to post all of the pictures.

Auryn and Falkor

The snakes have a very hard to see scaley texture. I outlined it all in black and then went over with some watery gold and silver and then more black for the shading. The scales show through as a texture more than color.

Taking pictures is a good way to get a view from a distance and I'd never have noticed the head of the silver snake as off without it.

Because the creatures were done practically and without cgi they actually hold up after all this time. I've seen some 80s movies where the special effects look like someone overlaid a cartoon laser or whatever they were trying to do.

Productive Night

I did the painting last night. I fixed Cairon and did the Racing Snail and Morla. Starting out I watch the movie and pause to make sketches of the characters I plan to paint. It helps me figure out how and what I want to focus on for each.

This annoys me so much!

I never remember to write down paint colors I am out of and here we are with me missing burnt umber. I've even done the ghetto thing of filling the tube with water and shaking it to get the last little bit out.

This dude has the wrong skin color! I can't tell if he looks disappointed in me or like I just shot him. Either way...

You're damn right that's a ziplock plastic lid being used as a palette. When the paint dries you can just peel it right off and there's a little well in the center for water.
